Background
Redway HR is an award-winning specialist HR consultancy based in Harpenden, delivering bespoke HR and leadership solutions to businesses. Founded by Liz Redway, the company prides itself on offering a tailored, personal approach far removed from the impersonal, “one-size-fits-all” call centre model.
Redway HR first connected with Hertfordshire Growth Hub in 2019 after meeting a representative at a local business event.
The Challenge
Following the pandemic, the HR sector faced unprecedented disruption. Businesses were grappling with remote and hybrid working models, rising mental health concerns, and challenges in recruitment and retention. Liz wanted to ensure her consultancy could adapt and deliver innovative solutions to meet these evolving needs.
The Solution
To strengthen her offering and gain fresh insights, Liz was introduced by her Growth Account Manager to the national Peer Networks programme in 2020, delivered locally by Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce. This collaborative environment enabled Liz to share experiences, gain practical tools, and build confidence to innovate.
By 2023, Redway HR entered a new phase of expansion. Through the Growth Programme, Liz worked closely with her Growth Account Manager to identify strategic opportunities. This partnership provided tailored guidance and a grant, enabling the business to deliver a key growth project: a professional website upgrade to enhance visibility and client engagement.
Building on this momentum, Liz partnered with the Growth Hub to co-deliver Recruitment and Retention Workshops for local employers. These sessions not only raised Redway HR’s profile and generated new business opportunities but also contributed to the wider community by sharing expertise and strengthening the regional talent pipeline.
The Impact
The support provided through the Growth Hub has delivered measurable benefits for Liz’s business. Redway HR has expanded and now employs a team of five with two long-term associates. Revenue and profit since engaging with the Growth Hub have increased year on year, demonstrating strong foundations.
One unexpected benefit from participating in the Peer Networks programme has been that since the cohort ceased to meet formally, the conversations between the peer group continued. Over time, these connections have grown into long-term relationships. One fellow cohort member is now a client, and another has become a supplier, demonstrating the lasting impact of the programme beyond its initial scope.
In addition, Liz partnered with the Growth Hub to co-deliver Recruitment and Retention Workshops for local employers. These sessions have helped to raise the profile of her company and created opportunities to connect with new clients.
In summary, the support has led to:
