In February this year Prime Minister Boris Johnson set out a plan for living with COVID-19. As we all learn to live safely with COVID-19 there are actions businesses can continue to take to help reduce the risk of their workforce and customers catching COVID-19 and passing it on to others.
Last year, in partnership with Visit Herts, Better Business for All, and Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Growth Hub introduced the Stay Safe, Stay Open Programme. The programme was designed to offer small businesses across the county access to a wide range of free support to help them navigate COVID-19 related changing advice and regulations. This package continues to support employers to comply with legal obligations relating to health and safety, employment, and equality duties.
One of the packages available through the programme is funding to help improve ventilation in businesses such as those in leisure, hospitality, tourism, and close contact service settings.
Businesses with less than 50 employees who are concerned about the lack of ventilation and airflow in their venue or business premises may be eligible* to access funding of up to £5,000 to pay for ventilation specialists who will audit their spaces and make recommendations for improving ventilation. A grant of up to £20,000 is also available for eligible businesses and projects to install mechanical ventilation. Funding under this scheme is limited.
