The challenge

Brillienz is an LED (Light-Emitting Diode) lighting company which supplies innovative lighting and control systems using wireless network technology that is managed over Wi-Fi. The company has a prominent client base but needed investment and technical support to allow them to transition to the next level. They contacted the Growth Hub for financial support in taking products to market and identifying routes to access technical expertise to develop their technology.

The solution

Brillienz worked with our specialist technology and productivity adviser Dr Abrar Jawaid, who carried out a business review and identified how the company could refine their product offering to reach their target market.

The company had ambitious growth plans but needed technical assistance to help develop prototypes into marketable products. Abrar introduced Brillienz to the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) team at the University to explore the opportunity of a KTP project – a cost-effective route to develop new products.

Brillienz also worked with Chris Ellis, our specialist sales and marketing adviser who created a sales and marketing plan, outlining a potential framework and the staffing resources required for the company to implement to take their products to market.

The impact

Since Brillienz started working with the Growth Hub they have:

  • Conducted a successful business review
  • Applied for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University of Hertfordshire
  • Begun building a relationship with a specialist technology college
  • Joined a collaborative technology business group to bid for funding
  • Started developing relationships with potential clients in the local area
